I haven't vanished...I promise!

Just a bit of an update so you all know I'm battered, yet still here...!

Well, it turned out that Mom didn't break her back after all.  What they were seeing on the x-rays were an extremely old injury, but it wasn't until they did this dye test thing that it showed just how old it is.  She is out of the hospital and into rehab, but there has been some issues with her oxygen levels and they're keeping a close eye on it, because it could lead into another round of congestive heart failure.

And what makes this worse is that I haven't seen her in nearly two weeks.

Last Tuesday, I started getting what I thought was a cold.  I called Mom, told her I wasn't feeling well, and cancelled seeing her - there's no way I'm getting anywhere near her with anything resembling a contagious illness - and proceeded to treat myself, hoping I'd be able to get over there on Thursday.

By Wednesday morning things were worse though so I went up to the local urgent care, where I was diagnosed with bronchitis.  I was given some lovely medications and sent home.

Yeah, so no Mom on Thursday, either.

Thursday night/Friday morning was hell.  I didn't sleep much at all, I kept dozing off and waking myself up coughing...and then there was the once I woke myself up not being able to breathe at all.  I freaked myself out, nearly called 911 before I managed to calm down and get back to breathing...only this time it was with a really bad squeaking noise every time I breathed.

So, I went back to urgent care Friday.   Just going out to the car had me in tears, I could barely breathe by the time I got there.  And getting into the building once I managed to drive there...I really wish I had called 911.

When the nurse checked my vital signs, my blood oxygen level was down to 89 and he could hear the wheezing outside of the exam room...with the door closed.  Turns out the bronchitis went into pneumonia that fast.  The doctor gave me an albuterol treatment, my own personal rental nebulizer, more drugs, and directions that, if I start suffering chest pains or jaw and neck pain then go straight to the ER.

I can't sleep in bed, because I go into respiratory distress if I don't sit up.  I get out of breath going to the bathroom.  The albuterol I'm on works great at breaking up the congestion, but it's making my mouth hurt.  I had to have a friend go on a grocery run for me.  I'm going stir crazy but I'm so tired and weak I couldn't go anywhere anyway.  It took me almost two hours to type this out.  I honestly can't recall the last time I've been this sick.

What makes this so extra irritating was that my bunnies were cooperating beautifully with me up until that Tuesday night.  I'd finally figured out what was wrong with my plot for "Remember", and my SHIELD Steampunk AU, "The Tesla Papers", was flowing along.  For the first time since I finished "Time Trap" I felt like I was accomplishing something.  *sigh*

So, everything is on hold once more.  However, I might not be writing, but the bunnies are still plotting, which is something.  I'm taking notes on what they're trying to tell me and so I won't be so far behind when I get up the strength to sit up at the computer for longer lengths of time.  Looks like it might not be for a bit, not the way I'm feeling.

Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know what was going on. Hope everyone else out there is having some sort of fun... :)

Please take this seriously, go to the emergency room if it seems to be getting any worse. Jim Henson died from Pneumonia, and he only delayed going to the doctor 24 hours after symptoms became acute. By the time he went, it was too late. Don't do that, we can't spare you! Also, don't jump right back into things the moment you start to feel better. Give yourself at least a day or two to recover your strength, so you don't have a relapse. Good luck, we are all rooting for you. Hope you recover FAST!

Don't worry about us. The most important thing for you is to get better and pneumonia can be hard to fight. All I can say is to get plenty of rest and fluids to help break up the congestion. Take it slow and work on getting better. You and your mom just need to take it one day at a time. My thoughts and prayers are for you both. Get better.

*hugs* So sorry you're having such a bad time. I really hope you'll be feeling better soon, I'm sending good thoughts your way.

That's great news about your mum's back though and hopefully she'll be back to normal soon too.
Oh poor you. At least you're not preggers like I was when my Bronchitis turned to pneumonia overnight. I remember the suffocating feeling all too well and hope you will feel better soon!

Take good care of you and don't do anything too soon, rest until you crawl out of your skin with boredom.
The stories can wait! You are more important.
All the best for your mum too!
Just take care of yourself and get better *hugs*
Get well soon

Love Ally x
I am just glad to hear you are doing ok. I can't say great, but one day at a time is the important thing.
Albuterol shouldn't make your mouth hurt. I would tell them about that. Never be afraid to call 911, either. Waiting can kill you. Hope you feel better soon.
Best wishes for your recovery !! and to thy mother.
hang on.
Congratulations on your new position.

I took the opportunity to catch up and reread all with delights!

I thank you for this escape from everyday hassles and its which unfortunately did you your share.

the episode with the whole family gathered in the valley and the addition of Phil and Clint reincarnated dragon son of our favorite lovebirds is a great joy!
I almost want to see Hart ....
as one is happy, one wants either for all!
but hey, it has other pleasures, and if I understand, is still a little part of the family (to the dismay of Jack and Ianto I suppose :-)

although I'm less reactive than before, know that I regularly think of you
kisses
